Stephanie Monteiro

Voice Faculty

Stephanie Monteiro was raised by two native Brazilian parents from the state, Minas Gerais. She graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor’s in music. She spent her time at Ithaca College studying art song, opera, musical theater, and samba. Stephanie participated in the Barcelona Festival of Song in 2021 where she studied under Patricia Caicedo. At the Barcelona Festival of Song, Stephanie learned the history and interpretation of Latin American and Iberian art song. During her undergrad, she was cast in the ensemble of Ithaca College’s production of We Wear the Sea Like a Coat. Post-graduation, she played the role of Azema (Semiramide) in Ithaca College’s Opera Studio Program in June 2023. Stephanie then spent a year in Ithaca, NY singing with the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, performing with jazz musicians, and performing with a samba band.

As a voice teacher, Stephanie teaches using positive reinforcement, maintaining that confidence and release are key to the best singing. In her lessons, Stephanie methodically explains the importance of interpreting musical text, connecting with the work, and ultimately connecting with the audience. Through vocal warmups and technical understanding, students will learn to love their own voice and to sing healthily in any genre they are interested in exploring.
