Sam Politz, Accordion
Sam Politz (aka Driftin’ Sam), a native of South Louisiana, has played the piano since childhood, and has had a long-standing passionate interest in jazz piano, particularly the piano styles of New Orleans players such as Professor Longhair, Huey “Piano” Smith, and James Booker. Not neglecting his French Creole heritage, he also plays and sings Cajun and zydeco music on both piano and button accordions.
Sam currently performs around Worcester as a member of Deux Amis. He has studied Jazz Piano with Dick Odgren.
Sam holds a BS from Louisiana State University; and a PhD from the Univ. of California, LA with specialties in biology and biotechnology.
