Summer Songwriting

Overview

Summer 2024 Songwriting is offered for ages 12 to 18.

In this songwriting workshop, students will learn how to build a relationship between the lyrics and melody of a song.  We will explore different elements of a song that work together to support the central message of the song.

No experience is required, just an interest in writing songs.

Teacher:  Brenda Lau

Child Readiness

If your child has any learning delays, please contact the office in advance of registering: info@pakmusic.org.

We wish to be sure all students can be successful.

For songwriting programs offered for younger children, (Ages 8-10), children should be comfortable separating from their parent/caregiver.  NOTE: this year’s summer songwriting class is for ages 12 to 18.

No prior music experience is necessary.  Only a willingness to learn and an openness to express music through singing.

Role of Parent / Caregiver

For middle school / teens, we encourage students to attend class without parent/caregiver.  A waiting area is available on site with WiFi.

When offered for younger children, Summer Songwriting for Kids is a drop-off program, although parents/caregivers are invited to stay for the duration of the class to support the child’s learning.

Students may be asked to practice at home between classes.  Regular encouragement of effort from a parent/guardian goes a long way in helping a child or teen discover and express their inner voice.
