Rhythm Kids with Pakachoag
A Movement, Drumming and Singing Class
Welcome to Rhythm Kids by Music Together® at Pakachoag, an exciting music, movement, and drumming class for children in Kindergarten through Second Grade / K-2
We loved the class, Julie! You are truly a welcoming presence to all and the music and activities are so fun.
My son said at the end of class, “Wow this was a lot more fun than I expected”. And Sunday night, he said, “What day is tomorrow? I wish it were Friday so we can go to the music class again”! 🙂

More About Rhythm Kids Drumming Class
Why Rhythm Kids?
- Active
- Games & Stories with Animal Rhythms
- Playful, Creative
- With Friends
Kids know what they like. Telling silly stories. Playing games. Being in charge.
Designed specifically for Kindergarten and early elementary students, our active Rhythm Kids classes tap into how children this age are wired to learn, with music games, animal rhythm stories, and lots of stomping-flying-climbing fun.
Rhythm Kids is just the thing to get your child to (willingly) put down the iPad and start making music with their friends. By the end of the semester, they’ll be proud to show off what they’ve learned: to you, their friends and teachers.
What to Expect
In each weekly music class, we drum, sing, move, and play to rhythms inspired by musical traditions around the world, from West African Gahu, to Japanese Taiko, to Brazilian Samba, just to name a few.
Students learn to compose, choreograph, and conduct as they play—and play with!—a variety of musical instruments: West African djembe drums, percussion instruments, and, the most important instruments of all, their voices and their bodies. As your child learns to think and create like a musician, they’ll also build musical connections to the global community. Classes include:
- immersion in the musical language of many cultures
- playful music games with rules
- opportunities to lead, balanced with opportunities to collaborate
- deep exposure to complex, fun, and rockin’ music
- many chances to solo, improvise, and work in ensembles
- rich, creative experimentation and expression, improvisation, and innovation
With or Without Parent?
Parent attendance and participation during class is welcome but optional. If choosing not to attend class or if you need to supervise a sibling, a space is available for waiting/home-work during class time.
If not attending, please be sure to be available as soon as class is dismissed. Please review our group program policies before registering.
Julie is fantastic, as always, and Magdalena is thrilled with the class! It’s the best thing I could have signed her up for. As soon as the first class ended, she asked disappointedly, “Is it over?” And last week at the end of class she asked, “Can we do this again tomorrow?”
Best, Gabrielle (Spring 2019)
